Notice of Public Hearing ZN-7-2024
Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing of the Zoning Hearing Board will be held in Council Chambers of the Municipal Center, 925 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. prevailing time, for a hearing before the Zoning Hearing Board.
 
Community Cleanup Day - July 20, 2024
The Borough of Jefferson Hills Environmental Advisory Council is hosting a Community Cleanup Day on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Please wear old clothing & closed-toed shoes. Reflective vests, gloves, garbage bags, drinks, and light snacks will be provided.

Upcoming Blasting Notice and Related Public Meetings
Joseph B. Fay Company has been contracted by the US Army Corps of Engineers to remove Lock & Dam No. 3. on the Monongahela River. The first blast is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, 2024, with an additional blast each week for the subsequent 14 weeks. There will be a public meeting held on June 12, 2024, and June 20, 2024, from 6 – 8 PM at the Floreffe Volunteer Fire Company (1540 State St, Jefferson Borough, PA 15025). There will be a presentation to the public on the removal operations that will begin on July 10, 2024 and continuing through 2025.
 
Solicitation in the Borough
The JHPD has been receiving calls regarding solicitors in the area. Remember that solicitors are required to possess a permit issued by the JHPD. Should residents have any concerns or feel uncomfortable with solicitation at their residence, please call 911.
Take a Moment to Familiarize Yourself with Ordinance 493:
1. 
No licensee shall solicit at private residences on Sunday, nor before 9:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. prevailing time, on weekdays.
2. 
No licensee shall solicit at any private residence exhibiting a sign reading "no solicitors" or words of the same meaning.
3. 
Residents may erect "no solicitors" or similar signs not to exceed 120 square inches in size, which for the purposes of this Part shall be conspicuously displayed near their entrance walk or doorway.
4. 
Solicitors may solicit at business properties in the Borough during all business hours; and may solicit in Borough streets and other public places from 9:00 a.m. to sunset; provided that such solicitors obtain a license as required by this Part and they shall be subject to all the other provisions of this Part.
 
Discount Garbage & Sewage Program Eligibility

If you meet the following requirements, complete the attached form and submit it to the Borough of Jefferson Hills along with supporting documents to receive a discount on your garbage and sewage bill:

  • Proof of Residency for the preceding year (driver’s License, Utility Bill, etc.)
  • Must provide a copy of the preceding year’s filed Federal Income Tax
  • In a household with one (1) individual, the individual's income must fall below one hundred thirty-six percent (136%) of the 2023 United states Department of Health
    and Human Services individual Poverty Guidelines, currently set at $14,580 ($19,828.80); or
  • In a household with more than one (1) individual, the household income must fall below one hundred forty-seven percent (147%) of the 2023 United states Department of Health and Human Services individual Poverty Guideline for two (2) persons in a family/household, currently set at $19,720 ($28,988.40).

County Hauling Trash Provider Transition

Attention Jefferson Hills residents! At the beginning of 2024, County Hauling took over over as the new borough trash provider. This change in provider was officially approved at the August 2023 Council meeting, marking the end of the contract with Waste Management on December 31st, 2023.
